Bioriginal Honoured for United Way Contributions
Saskatoon, Canada – January 24, 2014
Bioriginal’s commitment to social sustainability was honoured when the company received the Campaign Chair’s Choice Award at the United Way of Saskatoon and Area’s annual Achievement Celebration & Awards Ceremony dinner on January 23.
The honour recognizes the province’s best overall performance by a workplace campaign.
Bioriginal made their largest-ever donation to the United Way in 2013, increasing their contribution nearly 36% over last year. This was done through employee contribution, various fundraisers held throughout the year, and additional corporate contribution.
Overall, the United Way of Saskatoon and Area raised $6.27 million during the 2013 Community Campaign. Through their collaborations and partnerships the United Way focuses on providing sustainable solutions to social issues in three specific areas:
- Moving people from poverty into possibility – ensuring individuals and families basic needs are met, moving them out of poverty and into healthy sustainable situations.
- Building healthy people and strong communities – improving access to social and health-related information and support services, and making sure everyone feels like a valued part of their community.
- And finally, striving to help kids be all that they can be – improving access to learning and development programs, helping youth do well in school, and to make a healthy transition into adulthood.
