Supply Chain Planner

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Supply Chain Planner is responsible for managing inventories of both raw materials and finished products to balance supply and demand within the company’s supply chain. The qualified individual will utilize the company’s ERP system to determine purchased material and production requirements for all assigned products to meet both actual sales order and sales forecast demands.  This person will coordinate inventory planning and replenishment of ingredients and materials to maintain production schedules and ensure on-time delivery to customers. Strong collaboration with, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality and Logistics will be critical to meeting business goals.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective and efficient flow of material to support profit and customer service goals
  • Maintain targeted inventory levels for assigned finished products and raw materials
  • Generate production orders and ensure availability of in-spec ingredients and materials for manufacturing to meet the requested production date, allowing for appropriate lead times at each stage (shipping, production, quality)
  • Maintain strong working relationships and communications directly with subcontracted manufacturers, suppliers and internal manufacturing to confirm production/shipping schedules and monitor open orders to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Proactively report finished product and raw material availability issues
  • Maintain and monitor Item Master Data; revise essential planning data in the company’s ERP system to ensure it is effectively planning future requirements
  • Communicate confirmed ship dates for new sales orders to Customer Service
  • Proactively provide supply status, including changes to confirmed ship dates, to Customer Service
  • Assist in the efficient management of inventories at all levels
  • Participate in bi-weekly Demand Planning & Supply Chain team meetings
  • Complete special projects and assignments as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business or Operations Management or
  • APICS – CPIM/CSCP certification or SCMA – SCMP designation is preferred but not necessary
  • Minimum of 2-5 years broad experience across several key areas of responsibility including master scheduling, materials planning, demand management, sales and operations planning, forecasting and order management; understanding and experience in capacity management concepts and application, inventory control, demand planning (DRP) and MRP management techniques
  • Expertise in working with an ERP system – preferably LN
  • Proficiency in MS Office Programs
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills with careful attention to details and ability to support others in cross-functional role
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and written communication skills with an aptitude for problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Previous experience working in a GMP manufacturing environment would be an asset
  • Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple
