Sales Channel Manager

Our Sales Department is currently searching for a Sales Channel Manager to join their team.  The preference for this position is to work out of our Saskatoon, SK office; however, we are open to individuals working out of their home office in other locations in Canada or the U.S.

Core Responsibilities:

Customer Focus:

  • Develops and executes sales channel strategy, including meeting/exceeding objectives for designated channel.
  • Manages customer meetings and engagement:
    • Conducts regular visits and calls;
    • Engages with the customer to understand key decision makers and process, including executive leadership, marketing, operations and new product development;
    • Understands strategic direction and resulting roadmap for the customer.
    • Enters regular face to face and telephone call summaries into Salesforce.
  • Manages the qualification process:
    • Utilizes a consultative and question-based sales method to learn about customers;
    • Identifies customer challenges and determines how to best translate into a sales opportunity;
    • Responds accurately and in a timely manner, to customer needs;
    • Ensures an extra effort is made for customer follow-up;
    • Empathizes with customer challenges and takes responsibility for handling specific customer problems and demands.
  • Ensures successful sales performance:
    • Focuses on proper account management and new business development;
    • Successfully closes qualified projects with customer base.

Marketing Knowledge & Intelligence:

  • Gathers competitive market intelligence to mitigate channel conflict;
  • Keeps a pulse on market conditions, such as supply, demand and indicative pricing for special products;
  • Looks to capitalize on market opportunities with products and technology through client visits, following trade literature and attending conferences.

Other:

  • Reports to manager weekly and monthly channel revenue and profit forecasts compared to budget objectives;
  • Reports daily updates to Sales Force in regards to meeting/call reports and associated hunting forecasts;
  • Recommends product development and research project opportunities to internal stakeholders;
  • Evaluates channel product portfolio to maximize revenue and profitability;
  • Represents the Company at trade association meetings to promote products and services;
  • Works with the VP of Sales, business development and other Company leadership on various initiatives designed to maximize sales, profitability and business growth.

Qualifications:

  • College degree (i.e. BA or BS in Life Sciences, Nutrition or Business or related field) is preferred.
  • MBA or other related training/designation to demonstrate business analysis skills is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of sales management experience within a related field is required, with experience in natural products, commercial nutraceuticals, contract manufacturing and/or natural products/dietary supplement ingredients is preferred.
  • Experience is developing, formulating and customizing products for customers in sales.
  • Experience and exposure to consumer-packaged goods brands is preferred.
  • Must be able to travel extensively, typically 50% of time.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must have considerable knowledge of sales methods and procedures, considerable knowledge of advertising and marketing, and working knowledge of operations.
  • Must be detail orientated.
  • Must be able to plan, establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, colleagues, various departments, vendors and the public.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written) are required.
  • The ability to influence others is critical.
